About me

I’m Cas, a footwear designer currently studying at ArtEZ University of the Arts in Arnhem. My practice is fully focused on shoes. For me, a shoe is more than something you wear; it’s an extension of the body. I’m interested in how footwear can change the way someone stands, moves, or feels, and I’m always searching for the balance between the human form and the object itself.

I approach footwear as a way to create new relationships between body and design. Rather than just making products, I want to explore how a shoe can interact with the body in unexpected ways and challenge what footwear is supposed to be.

While I value the conceptual freedom at ArtEZ, I also wanted to understand how shoes are actually made. That’s why I chose a shoe electiv in shoemaking. There I learned the technical foundations of the craft, from pattern making to building prototypes. I enjoy working with my hands, learning the rules, and then finding ways to bend or break them.
